Holiday Travel story featuring Dr. Kate Mielitz

Among the naughty or nice lists, people are concerned with their holiday travel plans. By train or plane, car or boat, there are always people considering traveling for the Yuletide days.

GoBankingRates.com issued a national survey with Americans aged 18 and older. The question was “How much do you plan on spending for flights and hotels for your holiday travel?” Over 25% said they would spend more than $1,000–of this group, the largest generations were Gen Z and Millennials.

GoBankingRates.com’s and Yahoo Finance‘s Jamela Adam asked Beyond Finance’s Director of Client Counseling Dr. Kate Mielitz, AFC her, “How much should you spend on holiday travel?”

“[That] is inherently personal, but my best advice is only to spend what you can pay for in cash,” said Dr. Kate Mielitz, a personal finance expert and accredited financial counselor for Beyond Finance. “If you’re trying to figure out what you can ‘live without’ if you take the trip, you probably can’t afford the trip.”
