On Maria Leonard Olsen’s “Becoming Your Best Version” podcast, our own Dr. Erika Rasure dives into financial wellness, with a special focus on women.
A former financial advisor and university professor turned financial therapist, Dr. Rasure has helped thousands of people approach their finances in more intentional, healthy ways. She serves as Beyond Finance’s Chief Financial Wellness Advisor, where she meets weekly with hundreds of clients working their way out of debt and towards financial freedom.
In this discussion, Dr. Rasure talks with the podcaster and TEDx speaker about:
- Financial wellness and the best way to achieve it
- The mental health connection: how credit card debt impacts well-being
- How to manage (and avoid) excessive credit card debt
“One thing I’ve learned in the 21 years of doing this is that debt — especially credit card debt — it just doesn’t discriminate,” shares Rasure. “It doesn’t even matter how educated you are or how much money you have or don’t have, or earn or don’t earn. Everybody is just one big life event from experiencing massive credit card debt. And the one thing I think I always want to emphasize for somebody experiencing this today, I just want you to know that you’re not alone because this affects so many people on such a large scale.”
